Since 1999, the various organisations that have an involvement in the Llanymynech Heritage Area have come together under the umbrella organisation of the Llanymynech Heritage Partnership. Through this joint working and sharing of knowledge and projects, steady coordinated progress has been made over the years. That is not to say that nothing was done before 1999, but certainly, there has been an increased pace and holistic sense of purpose to the restoration, interpretation and preservation of the whole area. | CANAL AND RIVER TRUST [EX BRITISH WATERWAYS] The national authority for inland waterways is now a charity. CAMBRIAN HERITAGE RAILWAYS The Cambrian Heritage Railways promotes the tradition of the Cambrian Railway and has a station at Oswestry and nearby Llynclys. CARREGHOFA COMMUNITY COUNCIL Carreghofa Community Council covers the part of Llanymynech which is in Wales and is the equivalent of the English Parish Council. LLANYMYNECH CANAL WHARF GROUP A very active local group dedicated to running the visitor centre and boat trips. LLIMEYS Friends of the Llanymynech Limeworks Heritage Area, Very active in promoting and maintaining the limeworks and area. LLANYMYNECH AND PANT PARISH COUNCIL The tier of local government – promotors of this website and instrumental in setting the restoration of the site in motion. LLANYMYNECH VILLAGE HALL Situated on the other side of the canal from the heritage area. An active centre for many local groups and activities. SHROPSHIRE AND MONTGOMERYSHIRE WILDLIFE TRUSTS The Trusts work collectively for the benefit of the flora and fauna in the limeworks area. Various events are organised by the Shropshire Trust in the Heritage Area. OSWESTRY BORDERLAND TOURISM An association for the tourism industry in the area. OSWESTRY BORDERLAND HERITAGE A repository of industrial and historical information and facts collected around the area PANT MEMORIAL INSTITUTE The community hall in Pant was built as a memorial to those who gave their lives in the first world war. POWYS COUNTY COUNCIL Covers one-quarter of Wales including one-half of Llanymynech. SHROPSHIRE COUNCIL Took over the ownership [and responsibilities!] of the area around the Hoffman kiln from the Bradford Estate. The site has a named warden provided by the Council. SHROPSHIRE UNION CANAL SOCIETY Known as SUCS and active in practical canal restoration throughout the Shropshire area. TANAT VALLEY LIGHT RAILWAY Has restored rail links and established a country park at nearby Nant Mawr |
